"Steering wheel locked, try again"

Howdy,

I ain a 2005 S40 T5 with 60000KM, and couldnt start the car earlier today...The message said that the steering cycle is locked...wich wasnt the example...It happened before, but simply had to play with the steering wheel a piddling (even so unacceptable for that cost), simply today, information technology just wouldnt outset...

I tried everything...And had to put it on a flatbed....
I chosen a Volvo dealer mechanic, and told me that there is nothing to do??

This is really ridiculous...

Does anyone had that problem too?

Thanks

The dealer's mechanic is full of crap...go to the dealer to mutter LOUDLY....yet under warranty, correct? They need to change out whatever module you take in your steering as it's giving your estimator faux information and leaving you stranded....what a crock.

Hello,

Unfortenately, the warranty expired 2 months ago...

So lets promise that module not gonna cost too much...

Yeah, the dealer is pathetic, not the first fourth dimension I had to contend with them..but theres non many Volvo dealers in Montreal...

As for the engine, nope, it doesnt crank...nothings happens...I just hear a little "tic tic tic", like some sort of an electronic device...

Do you think that by unplugging the battery and replugging it, it would reset the computer?

Thanks

tic tic is typical of a low battery....even if information technology seems to have 12V, it should actually be closer to 14 when cranking. You lot might get to an machine parts store and take them test it nether load- this could be something simpler than yous realize. Strange things happen (all kinds of electrical issues) to these cars when the battery is low.

If it non the battery it may be something I ran into a couple of years ago. Customer towed in a 01 or 02 S40 in that would not creepo. Dash lamps came on, steering wheel would unlock, merely key would non turn to crank. After replacing ignition switch,no fix,and lock cyl,no prepare, I found a small lever betwixt the switch and lock cyl, coated in a heavy grease. When I touched information technology it popped upwards and then the car worked like a amuse. May be related. Lock cyl was very like shooting fish in a barrel to remove.Grease should be cleaned off and lighter lube practical. The lever was part of steering lock and was stuck, even though the steering would lock and unlock. Maybe?

I but unpluged and repluged the bombardment, and nothing...Information technology didnt had an upshot on the estimator (I dont know much near mechanics...)

The key is turning as if engine the would start...simply just doesnt start....

I but promise the dealer will detect the trouble quickly, and not but reset the computer, since it could/will happen later...

Of, form, Irish potato'due south constabulary made information technology happened a calendar week-end, so I'50 have to wait next monday to bring the car to (another) dealer...and rent a race-bred- finely-tuned Toyota Yaris for the week-end...yeah....

Thank you a lot for your help!

The dealer's mechanic is full of crap...go to the dealer to complain LOUDLY....still under warranty, right? They need to change out whatever module you lot have in your steering as it'south giving your estimator false information and leaving you stranded....what a crock.

You were right, I brought it to some other dealer, and they called me dorsum 30 minutes later to explained me problem.

The error lawmaking was CEM-6C52, and had to alter the steering lock module, the shear screw and do a SCL reload. It took them 2 hours, and the car is starting fine now...or equally it should...

$500...there goes the PS3 I was going to purchase next week...

Cheers again
